Route 66 The Grand Canyon Arizona

Route 66 The Grand Canyon Arizona

The Grand Canyon was carved after millions of years by the Colorado River and today the Canyon is one of the most visited National Parks in the USA. From beautiful sunrises to helicopter tours over the Canyon, a trip here will be awe-inspiring to say the least. To reach the Grand Canyon you will have to take a slight detour off of Route 66 but it will certainly be worth it! Many Route 66 travellers like to spend a night or two at Grand Canyon Village to really make the most of the destination, and also experience sleeping at the Canyon’s Rim.

The Grand Canyon can be visited on both an extended Route 66 road trip or a Mini Route 66 road trip, and depending how much time you have will depend how long you can visit the Grand Canyon for. For those who enjoy hiking, there are plenty of hikes to be done around the Grand Canyon's Rim and for those who would prefer a scenic tour there are free shuttle buses that run around the Canyon Rim daily.
