Trou aux Biches Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa, Mauritius

Trou aux Biches Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa is located on one of Mauritius’ most wonderful beaches that stretches for 2km and offers guests the most romantic sunsets on the island, and perfect morning strolls along its powdery white sand.

The Resort captures the tropical feel of the island beautifully with its contemporary designed suites, stunning 2- and 3-bedroom villas, and tranquil beachfront suites. An extremely nice touch I noticed was that none of the buildings rose above the size of the tallest palm tree, truly making you feel as if you were in a tropical oasis.

Trou aux Biches Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa is the perfect honeymoon destination; honeymooners will love the romantic aura of the resort and with 6 restaurants to enjoy, every night will offer a peaceful, romantic meal. The beach restaurant, La Plage, is a wonderful dining experience where guests can eat right on the beach with the peaceful waves of the Indian Ocean in the background. La Caravelle is an indoor-outdoor dining experience where guests can enjoy amazing á la carte dinner and delicious lunches with a view of the turquoise waters. Mahiya and Blue Ginger are Indian and Thai restaurants that provide amazing, authentic cuisine and L’Oasis is a buffet option that is perfect for when you simply want a light bite or some lunch by the pool. The fresh Catch of the Day served in L’Oasis for lunch was absolutely amazing!

Families are also extremely welcome and catered for at Trou aux Biches Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa – surprisingly, more that I originally expected. The boat house on the beach provides excellent complimentary water sports from kayaking and paddle boarding to snorkelling/ glass bottom boat trips 3 times a day. Not only this, Thursday to Sunday the bar at L’Oasis would play music and hold a family-friendly Disco that was perfect for all ages! There is also an excellent (complimentary) kids and teens club that are constantly creating activities to enjoy. One that was particularly popular was the beach volleyball/ football every afternoon at sunset.

Watching the sunset on the beach was certainly a highlight of my Trou aux Biches Beachcomber Resort experience. With sunset in April being around 6.30pm, it was at the perfect time to enjoy before getting ready for dinner. The sun set into the glistening Indian Ocean, and we would sip a Pina Colada as it did so. It was absolute perfection.

The Resort’s Spa focused on ‘The Art of Wellness’ and revitalising your senses, muscles, and mind with specially curated treatments. I was drawn in by the unique Lomi Lomi Hawaiian massage that I had in one of the amazing outside treatment suites. With the sounds of the island and ocean in the background, this was a truly beautiful and relaxing experience. For those that would rather enjoy a round of Golf than be pampered, guests at Trou aux Biches Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa have access to reduced green fees at Mont Choisy Le Golf course (including golf carts) – a new, championship course set amidst an old sugar cane plantation only a few minutes drive from the hotel. The hotel will also provide complimentary transfers to and from the course.

The rooms at this all-suite resort cater for everyone: couples and honeymooners will love the beautiful Jr Suites with their spacious terraces and amazing outside showers. Alternatively, for something extra special, you can book your own Beachfront Suite with private plunge pool and terrace. These suites also come complete with a stunning outside shower and make for an unforgettable holiday. Families may be more interested in booking a 2- or 3-bedroom villa with private pool and butler. I travelled to Mauritius on a family holiday, and we opted to stay in a 3-bedroom Butler Villa. This worked perfectly for us as we were able to enjoy time together eating breakfast in the morning, spend time relaxing by our own private pool together and enjoy playing cards, eating, drinking, and just chilling out together in our living room/ on the pool deck. The Butler Villas are a fabulous option for larger families / groups travelling together and make your Mauritius holiday that bit more memorable and special for your family/ group.

Venturing out of the resort is also popular – we hired a car and travelled to the nearby town of Grand Baie and to the capital city Port Louis. Port Louis is a lovely city full of little markets, stalls, cafés, and shopping that makes for an ideal day out in Mauritius. We also booked a catamaran trip to Gabriel Island that was absolutely fabulous. This is a popular spot for catamaran day trips…and for good reason. The water surrounding the island was crystal clear and the brightest shade of turquoise – the perfect backdrop for your Mauritius family photo or honeymoon Instagram shot!
