Sample Itinerary of Eastern Canada Self Drive Holiday

Days 1-3

Fly direct with one of our preferred airline partners to start this Eastern Canada Self Drive Holidays from the UK to Toronto with British Airways or Air Canada. You may prefer to fly indirect with one change in each direction with American Airlines, Delta Airlines or United.

Upon arrival into Toronto, please collect your vehicle and make your way to the Metropolitan Hotel Toronto, for a two night stay. This is a great value hotel located in the heart of the city within walking distance to Dundas Square and an array of shops, restaurants and bars. This is a modern hotel offering a swimming pool, a fitness centre and 2 restaurants for your enjoyment.

Spend the next two days enjoying Toronto and its attractions. Whilst here you could opt for a guided tour of the city, taking in the highlights such as the New City Hall, St Lawrence Market and the Underground Path shopping centre.

Days 3-4

Begin your day by heading south to the magnificent Niagara Falls - one of the most famous landmarks in North America. A trip would not be complete without boarding the Maid of the Mist as she sails to the base of Horseshoe Falls for a closer look.

After fully exploring the delights of Niagara Falls, make you way to the Sheraton on the Falls, a luxurious hotel located directly across from this iconic landmark offering spectacular panoramic views of the area. Facilities include an indoor waterpark, an outdoor and an indoor pool, hot tubs, movies and a spa and health club.

Days 4-6

Travelling north this morning you will get the opportunity to explore the spectacular Bruce Peninsula, which divides Georgian Bay from the massive Lake Huron. Upon arrival at the peninsula you may like to take the ferry across to Manitoulin Island before travelling to Gore Bay for your two night stay. Gordons Lodge is found on the scenic banks of Lake Huron with views overlooking Gore Bay, a short drive from the local attractions and activities.

From Gore Bay you can visit Manitoulin Island; the largest freshwater lake island in the world and popular with wildlife enthusiasts, fishermen and hikers alike.

Days 6-8

Cross Manitoulin Island and its smaller neighbouring islands until you reach the mainland. Then go towards the old mining city of Sudbury, before continuing across the rugged landscape of the Killarney Provincial Park and on to Killarney itself for a two night stay. Your hotel is the Killarney Mountain Lodge located a short walk from the local shops and restaurants, set amongst rocky landscape, dense forests and tranquil lakes.

During your stay in Killarney you can make the most of the innumerable outdoor activities on offer - from hiking, to fishing and canoeing.

Days 8-10

Continue your journey south along the north eastern shore of Georgian Bay, before heading east into the Muskoka region and on to Huntsville, the gateway of the Algonquin Provincial Park, for your two night stay at the Econo Lodge. The hotel is conveniently located across from Avery Beach within easy reach to Huntsville itself with an abundance of shops, restaurants, museums and galleries.

Muskoka is well known for its stunning scenery; from its peaceful lakes and waterways to its dense wild woodland. Take the opportunity to explore Algonquin Provincial Park with its 2400 lakes and stunning landscape.

Days 10-11

Turn east through the Algonquin Provincial Park before continuing on to Pembroke, found on the shores of the Ottawa River. You will be staying one night at the Econo Lodge Inn and Suites, located on the main street in Pembroke overlooking the beautiful Ottawa River. This is an ideal location for those looking to participate in an adventure holiday and includes canoeing, golf, hiking, boating and biking.

Days 11-12

Begin your day travelling south beside the Ottawa River, passing the Canadian capital of Ottawa. Here you may wish to stop off to explore the city including the seat of Canadian National Politics, before continuing south to the magnificent St Lawrence River. Your journey will then head west through the stunning Thousand Islands region into Kingston, where you will be spending the night. Make your way to the Holiday Inn Kingston Waterfront Hotel found at the base of Princess Street with views over Lake Ontario and St Lawrence River, conveniently located for the local shops, restaurants and bars.

Day 12

Enjoy your final day with an easy drive along the banks of Lake Ontario as you make your way to Toronto. Return your car back to the airport ready for your return flight home to the UK.
