September is a great time for your Florida holiday as many of the summer crowds will now be starting to thin and you’ll find it much easier to navigate around the major Orlando attractions such as Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando Resort, and also the many beaches of Florida.

One great activity to enjoy on your 2024 Florida holiday in September is a visit to the Tampa Bay area. Tampa Bay consists of Clearwater, St. Petersburg, and the city of Tampa - Tampa is well known for its Cuban culture, and a tour of Ybor City is ideal in September as you no longer face the extremely hot humid temperatures of the summer months. Though as September in Florida will still be warm, a visit to one of Tampa Bay’s beach cities, Clearwater or St Petersburg, also makes for a great day out where you can cool off in the warm Florida sea. Other activities in the Tampa Bay area include Hyde Park village, the Tampa River Walk, St. Petersburg Pier, The Florida Aquarium, The Clearwater Marine Aquarium, and the beloved thrill-seekers theme park capital: Busch Gardens.

Another area to visit on your 2024 Florida holiday is Jacksonville; Jacksonville is known for its high-end shopping, delicious food, amazing nightlife, and also for being quieter than its companion Florida cities Miami and Orlando. Like many other Florida cities, Jacksonville is not without a coastline - the city enjoys 22 miles of Atlantic coastline that you can utalise, including by going surfing, diving and snorkelling!

September is a great time to visit Walt Disney World thanks to the fact that the school holidays are now over, so many families will have already had their 2024 Florida holiday and the crowds will be much smaller in the theme parks. At Walt Disney World, Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party it's starting to get underway, and you will see many Halloween decorations around the parks. Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party Runs throughout the month of September and October, ending on October 31st, to give enough time for everyone to enjoy the Halloween spectacular event. Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is a separately ticketed event to your general admission Walt Disney World ticket so be sure to check you have a ticket to this Disney Halloween event! Elsewhere in Disney World, you will be able to enjoy the Food and Wine Festival that is still taking place at EPCOT - you will be able to enjoy plenty of unique snacks, foods and drinks throughout the theme park!

Universal Orlando Resort will be less busy than it has been throughout July and August, making it a great addition to your 2024 September Florida holiday. Throughout September Universal’s own Halloween event, Halloween Horror Nights, will be taking place in the lead up to Halloween. This event is again a separately ticketed one and is not at all for the faint hearted. Unlike Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights are indeed that: horrifying! If you are planning on visiting Florida with young children then stick to Disney’s Halloween Party, but if you are wanting to really get stuck-into the Halloween festivities (and perhaps leave the young children at home) then Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights is a perfect event for your 2024 Florida holiday!

Other areas of Florida are also holding great events during September 2024; Key West will host the annual sunset celebration to allow tourists and residents alike to enjoy the beautiful Key West sunsets in Mallory Square, Orlando will host its Magical Dining Month where guests can enjoy amazing food from participating restaurants around Orlando, and Palm Beach and Miami will hold a annual Miami Spice event that gives tourists and residents the opportunity to enjoy the unique culture and cuisine of this area of Florida.
