San Francisco Holidays

San Francisco is one of California’s most iconic cities full of fabulous landmarks to enjoy and things to do. San Francisco is the ideal destination for families and couples alike as there is something for everyone: from hiking through Muir Woods’ Redwood trees to marvelling at the sealions at Pier 39!

Firstly, we cannot start a holiday about San Francisco without mentioning the Golden Gate Bridge! San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge is an absolute staple of the city and one of the landmarks all clients look forward to visiting. Amazing views of the Golden Gate Bridge can be had from the infamous Fisherman’s Wharf, but to truly experience it we recommend hiring a bike or e-scooter (or taxi for those who can’t) and riding across the bridge to the quaint city of Sausalito where you can enjoy some lunch or snacks before either cycling back or getting the ferry across San Francisco Bay, which we always opt for as you will also be treated to amazing views of Alcatraz Island! Though you’ll want to do more than just admire the haunting mid-bay island! Tours to Alcatraz Island from Fisherman’s Wharf are the best way to see the prison, as you will be taken to the island and given an audio tour to browse at your own pace. This is a truly unforgettable experience that we highly recommend for anyone visiting San Francisco.

Though you can stay more centrally in the city at Union Square, we highly recommend staying at Fisherman’s Wharf for your San Francisco Holiday. There are a wide variety of hotels depending on your budget, the Hotel Zephyr San Francisco, Courtyard by Marriott Fisherman’s Wharf and Argonaut Hotel: a Noble House Hotel are some of our favourite Fisherman’s Wharf hotels that suit a variety of budgets. The Argonaut Hotel: a Noble House Hotel is particularly fantastic for those who want a view of Alcatraz Island and the Golden Gate Bridge from their room! Fisherman’s Wharf is an excellent place to stay in San Francisco as not only will you have constant views of San Francisco Bay including Alcatraz Island and the Golden Gate Bridge, but you will be able to sample fresh seafood from the restaurant’s and sourdough from the iconic Boudin Bakery, and have access to the two cable car lines that serve Fisherman’s Wharf so you can explore San Francisco the traditional way! if you are up early enough, staying on Fisherman’s Wharf will also allow you to see the local fishermen fishing for their daily catch off the piers!

Whilst in San Francisco you’ll want to make the time to do a tour of the city: there are some iconic landmarks you’ll not want to miss on your San Francisco holiday! From the unique Painted Ladies, the infamous ‘bendy’ street Lombard Street, the Walt Disney Family Museum, the San Francisco City Hall building and so much more! Booking a private tour is the best way to make sure you see everything the city of San Francisco has to offer if you are tight for time whilst in San Francisco and/or if you want to customise where you stop and what you see!

Another unmissable experience in San Francisco is a trip to Muir Woods just outside the city. For this you can either hire your own car or book a driver to take you to the Muir Woods National Monument, home to some of the tallest and oldest Redwood trees in California. There are several trails to walk at the Muir Woods National Monument that are suitable for everyone – grandparents and children alike!

San Francisco is also a favourite destination for travellers going on a Twin Centre holiday! Clients love to fly into San Francisco and visit the top sights and landmarks for 2 to 3 days before continuing their Twin Centre holiday to Hawaii, New Zealand, Los Angeles and even Orlando. San Francisco and Hawaii Twin Centre holidays allow for travellers to experience the hubbub of city life before unwinding and relaxing in total bliss on the golden sands of Waikiki beach, Oahu or visiting the many awe-inspiring waterfalls throughout Hawaii. San Francisco and New Zealand Twin Centre holidays allow for travellers to take a much-needed break before the long flight to Auckland but also to enjoy a city-break type holiday full of historic monuments and fabulous food, before enjoying the less built-up and slower paced lifestyle of New Zealand. San Francisco and Los Angeles Twin Centre holidays let travellers see some of the best sights California’s West Coast has to offer! Many travellers choose to fly into either Los Angeles or San Francisco and drive to the other before flying home as it allows travellers to see many destinations they usually wouldn’t go to, alongside Los Angeles and San Francisco, like the idyllic towns of Monterey Bay, the iconic sights in Yosemite National Park and the culturally rich San Jose. San Francisco and Orlando Twin Centre holidays are amazing for travellers with children as you can experience driving over the Golden Gate Bridge and visiting Alcatraz Island before spending 2 weeks in Orlando visiting the Magical Walt Disney World and Thrilling Universal Studios Orlando!
