Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park encompasses 580 acres of land, making it the largest theme park in the entire world, so be sure to pack light and bring comfy shoes when visiting Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom!
Disney's Animal Kingdom is home to live animals so the park itself is set up differently from the rest of the Walt Disney World theme parks, to not disturb and frighten the animals living there. At Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park, you will even be able to see animals that are near to extinction in the wild and learn about the conservation efforts being made at the park by Walt Disney World to protect them.
At Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park, there are a variety of lands, attractions, rides, and dining to explore and enjoy, including: Africa, Asia, Discovery Island, Pandora- The World of Avatar, The Oasis, and DinoLand U.S.A.
*Disney’s Animal Kingdom is under development, therefore lands and rides mentioned in the above text are subject to change.
Pandora - The World of Avatar is a highly immersive land in Disney's Animal Kingdom that features otherworldly landscaping, rides, attractions, and theming. For those who have seen the film, this land is reminiscent of it and includes rides and attractions based on the Avatar people and Pandora.
One of the most popular attractions is The Na’vi River Journey; a boat ride through the Pandora jungle! You begin by boarding your boat in a small town on Pandora where you will pass glowing plants and animals, journey through the jungle of Pandora, and eventually see one of Disney's most amazing animatronic figures.
Another highly popular attraction in this land is Avatar Flight of Passage; Avatar Flight of Passage is one of Disney's most technologically advanced rides and takes you on a journey, on a flight simulator, through Pandora.
Pandora - The World of Avatar is, of course, home to a variety of dining options including the Pandora Snack Cart, and the quick-service restaurant Satu'li Canteen.
Asia is one of two lands in Disney's Animal Kingdom based on a continent, and in this land you will explore architecture reminiscent of India, Thailand, Indonesia, and Nepal. You'll enter Asia through the village of Anandapur, and it is here that you will be able to access Asia’s two feature attractions: Expedition Everest, and the Kali River Rapids.
The second of the continental inspired lands at Disney's Animal Kingdom is Africa, and this is actually Animal Kingdom's largest land. This land is home to a variety of attractions and rides including the gateway to Animal Kingdom's largest area inhabited by animals: Kilimanjaro Safaris. Kilimanjaro Safaris takes you on a journey through a variety of terrains and where you can see elephants, hippos, giraffes, zebra and more.
This is also the location in Animal Kingdom where you can see the festival of The Lion King, Disney's Animal Kingdom's longest-running theatre show, and also where you can take the Gorilla Falls exploration trail for some up-close-and-personal time with the Gorillas at Animal Kingdom!
There are of course variety of food and drink options in the Africa land including the Harambe Market quick service dining and the Tusker House Restaurant offering table service.
The Oasis is the first land guests will encounter when entering the park, and throughout this land you will see animal exhibits. To ensure that animals have good living habitats, the enclosures at Disney's Animal Kingdom are large with a small number of animals, so be sure to have a sharp eye when looking for them as you make your way into Disney's Animal Kingdom.
The Oasis is also where the iconic Rainforest Cafe at Animal Kingdom can be found. This is a table service restaurant and part of the iconic Rainforest Cafe chain. Inside the restaurant, you will find immersive theming, and the dining room looks just like a jungle, complete with animatronic animals like elephants and monkeys…oh, and the occasional thunderstorm!
Discovery Island is home to Animal Kingdom's iconic landmark The Tree of Life; The Tree of Life reaches 14 storeys high and is Disney's Animal Kingdom's version of Cinderella’s Castle. The Tree of Life is home to a variety of birds and animals, as well as the live show It's Tough to be a Bug inspired by Pixar's A Bug's Life. This is also from where you will branch off and visit every other land of Disney's Animal Kingdom.
