Seychelles Island Hopping: Mahé, Praslin & La Digue

One of the best ways to experience the Seychelles is to explore more than one island. Each has its own character, scenery and experiences, making aSeychelles island-hopping holiday ideal if you want to see more than just the beach. From the lively landscapes of Mahé to the spectacular beaches of Praslin and the laid-back charm of La Digue, combining the islands creates a more varied Seychelles holiday.

Why island hop instead of staying on one island

Although it is tempting to choose one beautiful resort and stay there for your entire holiday, island hopping allows you to experience the different sides of the Seychelles. Mahé offers the widest choice of restaurants, excursions and activities, while Praslin is home to some of the archipelago's most famous beaches and the UNESCO-listed Vallée de Mai. La Digue is smaller and wonderfully relaxed, with bicycles, traditional island life and iconic beaches such as Anse Source d’Argent.

Our suggested routing

For a two-week Seychelles holiday, we recommend combining Mahé, Praslin and La Digue for a balanced itinerary. A typical routing could include 5 nights on Mahé, 5 nights on Praslin and 4 nights on La Digue. This gives you enough time to settle into each island while still experiencing the highlights of all three. Your itinerary can also be tailored around your preferred hotels, budget and the type of holiday you want.

How you travel between the islands

Travelling between the main islands is straightforward, with regular inter-island ferries and domestic flights available. Ferries provide a scenic way to travel between Mahé, Praslin and La Digue, while domestic flights can offer a quicker option between Mahé and Praslin.

Seychelles Honeymoons

The Seychelles is made for honeymooners, combining beautiful beaches, luxurious resorts and a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere. Whether you want complete seclusion or a honeymoon packed with experiences, we can create a Seychelles honeymoon around you.

Best islands and hotels for honeymooners

Mahé is ideal for couples wanting luxury combined with plenty of restaurants, excursions and sightseeing, while Praslin offers a more peaceful setting and some of the Seychelles' most spectacular beaches. For a slower-paced romantic escape, La Digue is hard to beat. Luxury resorts, private villas and adults-focused accommodation can all be incorporated into your honeymoon itinerary.

Romantic experiences

Make your honeymoon memorable with a private beach dinner, sunset sailing cruise or couples' spa treatment. You could spend the morning snorkelling in crystal-clear waters before relaxing on a secluded beach, or finish the day watching the sunset together from your hotel. For something extra special, consider a private excursion or romantic island-hopping experience.

Family Holidays to the Seychelles

The Seychelles isn't just for couples. Its calm waters, beautiful beaches, wildlife and family-friendly resorts make it an excellent choice for a tropical family holiday. We can recommend islands and hotels that provide the right combination of facilities, space and activities for families.

Best family-friendly hotels and islands

Mahé and Praslin are particularly good choices for families, offering a wide range of accommodation and excursions. Family-friendly resorts provide spacious rooms, pools and easy access to beaches, while some offer kids' clubs and activities designed for younger travellers. Combining two islands can also add variety to a family holiday without making the trip feel rushed.

Things to do with kids

There is plenty to discover away from the pool. Meet the famous giant tortoises, explore nature reserves, take a boat trip or introduce the family to snorkelling in the warm Indian Ocean. Praslin's Vallée de Mai is another fantastic experience, while La Digue's beaches provide an unforgettable backdrop for a family day out.

Our Favourite Seychelles Hotels

Choosing the right hotel can make a huge difference to your Seychelles holiday, which is why we work with a wide range of resorts across the islands. From affordable beachfront stays to some of the Indian Ocean's most luxurious hotels, we can match your accommodation to your budget and travel style.

Mahé: Hilton Northolme, Coral Strand & Carana Beach

On Mahé, Hilton Northolme Resort & Spa is a beautiful choice for a luxurious escape, with an intimate setting overlooking the Indian Ocean. Coral Strand offers a convenient beachfront location on Beau Vallon, while Carana Beach Hotel provides a more secluded boutique-style experience on the island's north coast.

Praslin: Constance Lemuria, Raffles, Coco de Mer & Black Parrot Suites

Praslin is home to some exceptional resorts. Constance Lemuria combines luxury with access to spectacular beaches and a championship golf course, while Raffles Seychelles offers spacious private villas and a stunning setting. Coco de Mer Hotel is a popular choice for a relaxed island stay, while Black Parrot Suites offers an intimate adults-focused experience.

Mahé & Praslin Luxury: Story Seychelles, Constance Ephelia, Mango House & Le Duc

For a luxury Seychelles holiday, consider Story Seychelles on Mahé, with its beachfront location and extensive facilities, or Constance Ephelia, set within a spectacular natural environment. Mango House offers a stylish boutique experience on Mahé, while Le Duc de Praslin is an excellent option for couples and families looking to stay close to some of Praslin's beautiful beaches.

Best Time to Visit the Seychelles

The Seychelles is a year-round destination, with warm temperatures, tropical sunshine and inviting sea temperatures throughout the year. However, the best time to visit can depend on what you want from your holiday. April to May and October to November are particularly popular, offering calmer seas, lighter winds and excellent conditions for swimming, snorkelling and island hopping. The May to September period is generally drier and cooler, although the south-easterly trade winds can bring stronger breezes to some beaches. December to March is warmer and more humid, with a greater chance of tropical showers, but there are still plenty of sunny periods to enjoy. For honeymooners, families and beach lovers, the Seychelles' consistently warm climate means there is rarely a bad time to visit.
