The town of Cody was founded by the famous explorer Buffalo Bill Cody, and has a proud heritage of rodeo, which is very important to the culture of the area. It hosts regular amateur rodeo nights and annual professional rodeo competitions. The Buffalo Bill Historical Centre charts the life and times of Buffalo Bill, and the history of Native Americans and cowboy settlers. The Old Trail Town recreates life in this era and is a popular attraction in Cody.
