No trip to California is complete without a day or two at Disneyland California. Disneyland California is home to 2 parks, Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure, and is home to the only Disney Park to be designed and completed by Walt Disney himself!
To ensure your Disneyland California holiday is as amazing as possible, Charter Travel work with the best airline partners in the industry: Virgin Atlantic, United Airlines, American Airlines, British Airways and Delta Airlines, and offer flights from many UK airports including Glasgow, Manchester, London Airports, and select other regional airports, which allows us to tailor your holiday to your specific needs. Our Travel Specialists are experts in all-things California and can advise on when the best time to travel is, what to do whilst at Disneyland California, where to stay near Disneyland California, and create your perfect holiday that fits your budget. Our Travel Specialists can advise on car hire, fly drive holidays, hotels, activities, budget requirements, and source the cheapest flights and accommodation for your booking.
The first question guests always ask when booking a trip to Disneyland California is “how does it compare to Walt Disney World Florida” and the truth is, the parks are so different it would be unfair to compare them. Instead, we highly recommend just visiting them both as they have different experiences to offer! Disneyland California is home to lands that are not at Walt Disney World Orlando Resort, for example Cars land and the Park’s newest addition the Avengers Campus. The Avengers Campus sports new technology for Disney: A Spider-Man “stuntronic” where Spider-Man flies through the air with no wires, or webs, attached!
Similar to Walt Disney World Orlando, Disneyland California has onsite hotels for guests to stay at. Though, Disneyland California only has 3 on-site resort hotels: Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, Disneyland Hotel, and Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel. All 3 hotels offer guests early access to the parks an hour before opening to the public and The Grand Californian Hotel even has its own entrance to Disney California Adventure! Unlike at Walt Disney World Orlando, all 3 Disneyland California hotels are in walking distance from the parks – which is great for when you fancy popping back to your room for a power nap before dinner! Though, many guests who visit Disneyland California choose to stay off-resort in Anaheim as this is often cheaper and gives them more accommodation options. The JW Marriott Anaheim Resort is the best option for those looking for luxury alongside their Disneyland California holiday; the hotel is also within walking distance from the Disneyland California parks, though most guests do prefer to drive as Disney requires a lot of walking! The Westin Anaheim Resort, which opened June 2021, is another great off-resort option that offers rooftop bar views of Disney California Adventure Park and the late-night Disney Fireworks! Staying off-resort is also a great choice for those only wanting to visit Disneyland California for a day or two.
There is certainly no shortage of places to eat when visiting Disneyland California, and this is no surprise when California is praised for its cuisine, particularly its wine! Napa Rose at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel is an impressive restaurant for wine lovers as it has a 17,000-bottle cellar and over 1,000 different wines. Lamplight Lounge at Disney California Adventure is known for its beautiful waterfront location and lobster nachos, followed by sugar-dusted mini donuts with chocolate dipping sauce. Yum! For on-the-go snacking, Disneyland California also features Dole Whip with a variety of flavours at The Tropical Hideaway.
Disneyland California is a great family destination, but it is also a fabulous adventure for couples/ older travellers; the Disney California Adventure Food and Wine Festival runs for around 2 months each spring and offers guests the opportunity to sample loads of California-inspired cuisine alongside cocktails, beer, and wine! Disneyland California is also home to Downtown Disney where you can shop-till-you-drop for both Disney themed merchandise and regular brands like Sephora, or you could rent a lane at SplitsVille Luxury Lanes and show off your bowling skills!
Disneyland California is the jewel of Anaheim, but it is not the only attraction the city has to offer. Anaheim is home to its own brewery of pre-Prohibition era where you can sample some local beers in the Beer Garden and Tasting Room. Baseball fans may want to catch a game at Angel Stadium where the whole family can enjoy the sun, food and game-day atmosphere. Yorba Regional Park is another fun non-Disney day out in Anaheim, and it’s also a great way to get out of the city and into nature.
