Snorkelling in Aruba

Snorkelling in Aruba

On your holiday to Aruba be sure to visit some of the islands top snorkel spots for exotic fish and marine life! Snorkelling in Aruba is an easily accessible, family friendly activity that will offer under water beauty and leave you with amazing memories of parrotfish, damselfish, sea turtles and more!

There are many beaches in Aruba that you can snorkel from without needing to book a boat trip. Arashi beach on the north of the island is a perfect snorkelling beach for children, families, and beginners due to its calm, shallow water and soft sandy beaches; you will need to bring your own snorkel ger to this beach, but you can expect to see vibrantly coloured marine life. Boca Catalina is another great option for snorkelling located in the Malmok beach area that is very popular due to the abundance of fish and sea turtles swimming close to the shores. If you are a strong swimmer then why not swim north from Boca Catalina to Catalina Cove (or drive there) where you will see even more fish, corals, and other marine life. Tres Trapi is another popular snorkel spot, often known to be one of the best in the Caribbean, where you can climb into the water via the 3 steps made from natural rock formation – there are not as many fish in this snorkel spot but there is a lot of other marine life like brightly coloured sea stars.

Malmok beach offers some of the best snorkelling opportunities in Aruba due to its numerous coves and variety of fish. However, at this beach you will find sea urchins and sharp rocks near the shore, so it is not advised for children or beginner snorkelers. Finally, Mangel Halto, which is located close to Savaneta Aruba’s former capital city, is a great snorkel spot that is rich in sea life and has stunning clear, blue water. There are sharp rocks close to the shore, but once you get past them you are in for a treat: in this snorkel spot you can see any number of parrotfishes, squid, butterfly fish, yellowtail snappers, sergeant majors, blue tangs, sand divers, and even stingrays, deep water gorgonians, sponges and anemones if you venture out far enough.

Beach snorkelling can be done without a tour or guide, alternatively you can book onto guided snorkel tours that take you out to sea and to some of the best locations around the island, including the WW2 shipwreck Antilla.
