February holidays in Florida
Florida is a great time to visit Orlando – earlier in the month is best for those wanting to avoid the queues as the Disney and Universal theme parks often remain quiet. February is also a great time for families to visit as you have the benefit of February Half Term! Half Terms are away busier periods and thus we recommend booking early to ensure you get everything you want! The weather in Florida in February is warm and sunny in the day, with perhaps the need for a light jumper in the evening – perfect for those long days at the parks!

What’s on?
One of the top attractions in Orlando that entices visitors in February is Universal Orlando’s Mardi Gras! Beginning on February 1st, Mardi Gras is an event of colour, parties, awesome costumes and amazing atmosphere! Mardi Gras is famous for its parade that runs through the park while the characters in the parade throw beads to the onlookers! Mardi Gras at Universal Resort Orlando is a night to remember and best of all, it comes included in the price of your ticket! Mardi Gras also features live music from popular artists at the Music Plaza Stage! And if you still haven’t gotten your Mardi Gras fill, Tampa’s Busch Gardens also have their own Mardi Gras weekend! If ‘Florida’s Biggest Party’ is not enough for you, SeaWorld also hosts its own Seven Seas Food festival during February and provides a great opportunity to sample international street food, live music and a variety of drinks as you head around the park! Epcot’s Festival of the Arts runs throughout January and February and is the main event of Walt Disney World in February! Throughout the festival you can experience culinary delights and ‘eat’ your way around the world (or the lake)! There are also many other visual art installations on display that will help create the ultimate Instagram-able moment at Disney!
Where to stay?
To stay close to the Mardi Gars festival you’ll perhaps want to stay in one of Universal’s fabulous hotels right on the complex and Universal’s Hard Rock Hotel is the perfect place to stay to keep the party theme going! Universals Hard Rock Hotel lets you live like a rock star in 5* accommodation before heading out to the party!
Another great choice is the Double Tree by Hilton Orlando near SeaWorld! This hotel is located halfway between Walt Disney World and Universal Resort Orlando so gives you amazing access to both sets of theme parks! The hotel has an amazing pool and fitness suite for you to enjoy on some down time too!
A Florida Villa holiday is also a fantastic option when visiting Orlando; at charter travel we have a range of Villa developments we work closely with to provide you with the best price possible! Villas are fabulous when there are extended or multiple members of your family travelling to Orlando and you all wish to stay together! They also provide space to cook and relax at the pool during some down time after a long day at the theme parks! One Development we recommend is Hampton Lakes in Orlando – this complex features stunning Villa’s that are just 15 minuets away from Walt Disney World and within easy reach of Universal Orlando and SeaWorld!
Things to do
Walt Disney World and Universal’s Orlando Resort are clearly the showstoppers on your trip to Florida in February, but there is so much more fun to be had! Orlando has so many fun and quirky things to do – for example, dining in a local diner to get that ‘traditional’ American feel or going to a sports bar, we recommend Millers on International Drive, to drink, eat and have fun with the locals! Another fun-filled activity on offer is the indoor trampoline parks! These create endless fun for both parents and kids and will have you bouncing until you’re puffed out!
