Sample Itinerary of Orlando & St Augustine Holiday

Everyone knows Orlando is famous for Disney World and Universal Studios. But what about International Drive and the Orlando Eye, where visitors can see the whole city from a breathtaking height? And SeaWorld! Amazing shows with dolphins and whales and acrobats and music, great roller coaster rides for the whole family. Penguins and exhibits and BBQ and beer. This is a fantastic, yet much overlooked Orlando attraction.

When Orlando has ‘wowed’ the family and the fireworks have signaled the end of the day, it’s time to step back in time.

St. Augustine was the first continuously inhabited city in the United States. Here, beautiful architecture can be seen at Flagler College and the Lightner Museum. Stroll down cobbled streets past the oldest schoolhouse in America. See the Castillo De San Marco where soldiers re-enact battles and the cannons are fired over the bay. Take a trolley tour down Magnolia Avenue where tree lined streets have made appearances in numerous films. Drink from the Fountain of Youth.

Take a tour of San Sebastian Winery, where sweet Muscadine wine is made. After the tour, guides will be happy to let you sample their Vintner’s White or Rosa wines, the smooth ports or the deep red wines. They will show you how to taste a wine properly. You can even take home a bottle of your favorite from their store.

Great restaurants are all over St. Augustine. Most have their menus posted on the coquina walls. Visitors have only to stroll down the street, reading the menus, to find what they want. Harry’s is a beautiful seafood restaurant located in an old house. A patio area under the palms is the perfect setting to enjoy a glass of wine while you wait for your meal. The shrimp and grits are incredible. Have some spicy Jambalaya or blackened redfish.

For a sweet finish, Whetstones Chocolates is the place to be. A tour of the chocolate factory will show you how the creamy truffles are handmade. Have a sample after the tour and be sure to buy some of their magnificent peanut butter cup fudge. They have gift packs and souvenir chocolates, too.

A trip to St. Augustine would not be complete without a trip to St. Augustine Beach. This wide beach is usually uncrowded. The surf is perfect for boogie boarding. See the dolphin pods troll by, sometimes so close you can touch them, looking for food.

The lighthouse, carriage rides and ghost tours- you will not have enough time to do it all. So, plan your next Orlando and St. Augustine holiday today and get started!
