When booking a twin centre holiday to Florida and the Bahamas it brings to mind pearly sands, gorgeous emerald and aqua-blue waters, museums , history and famous theme parks.
Florida lures visitors from around the world with gorgeous beaches on both sides. The Gulf Coast offers visitors emerald green waters, great sport-fishing and beaches with baby-powder-soft sands. Pensacola, at the upper corner of the Gulf Coast is home to the Naval Aviation Museum and the Blue Angels. Come inside the museum to enjoy exhibits from the wars. See uniforms and love letters, airplanes suspended from the ceilings and flight simulators that the children will love. From the sands of Pensacola beach you can hear the roar as the Blue Angels fly over on training maneuvers morning and night. These pilots do precision stunts and rolls and perform all over the United States.
On the Atlantic coast of Florida visitors can explore the oldest inhabited city in the America- St. Augustine. Here, Henry Flagler, railroad tycoon, spent loads of money building such places as Flagler College. This beautiful brick and wrought-iron college still stands. Inside there is a full-size pool and more, lavish touches from the tycoon.
St. Augustine has ornate beautiful buildings all along the streets. Take the trolley ride for a narrated tour of the history of this lovely city. Get on and off as much as you like. Save parking fees (and your feet) with this tour.
St. Augustine Beach is pristine white sand, glistening blue waters, dolphins and sunshine. Here, kids can play on the playground. Adults will enjoy splashing in the waves, looking for dolphins or doing some shelling. A clean bathhouse, plenty of parking and a pier with a bait shop and rod rentals makes this beach a perfect place for the whole family.
There are several ports in Florida where guests can catch a cruise to the Bahamas, the second part of this beach vacation. Nassau is a pearl in the amazingly clear waters of the Caribbean. Here guests can haggle at the straw market for great deals on handmade fans and bags. Grab some t-shirts for souvenirs and then head over to Paradise Island, just across the bridge.
Bahamas Paradise Island is a tropical haven with gorgeous beaches and plentiful resorts offering amenities like massages on the beach, pools and waterslides. Perhaps the most famous of all of the resorts is Atlantis Resort.
Atlantis Resort boasts a towering twin set of waterslides that plunge into shark pools. An aquarium with over 8 million gallons of saltwater and 50,000 marine animals in 14 lagoons will wow visitors. See sharks, rays, eels and beautiful coral formations and exotic fish. Watch as people dive with the sharks. Or, stand at the top of the lagoon and watch as huge rays are fed by hand. Dolphin Cay allows visitors to interact with the dolphins and trainers at Atlantis.
The casino at Atlantis Resort is the largest in the Caribbean. Stroll through to see gorgeous blown-glass artwork, gaming tables and over 750 slot machines waiting to challenge you. There are even casino lessons daily.
After touring Atlantis, go back over the bridge for some great conch-fritters and fresh fish sandwiches. Snorkel in the reefs located around Nassau. See the colourful houses in pinks, blues and yellows. Tour the historic Parliament Square where colonial buildings stand out in beautiful pink hues. A statue of young Queen Victoria stands in the square. This is a perfect spot for photos.
Whether you decide to stay at Atlantis, or rent a scooter and explore Nassau on your own, this amazing island is welcoming and easy to navigate. Grab a taxi, a carriage or a water taxi and explore this paradise. Florida and Bahamas- this twin centre holiday will satisfy all of the beach-lovers in your family.
