The Wailua River is the only navigable river in Hawaii and visitors can enjoy boating, kayaking, or SUP adventure in Wailua River State Park. You can either rent your own kayak or book onto a tour (we can help you choose which would be best for you) – this is a must-do adventure for any Kauai Hawaii holiday or honeymoon as you will get you see the Kauai rainforest like never before! Many kayak tours also combine the kayak adventure with a hike to Sacred Falls where you will be able to take a dip in the refreshing waters! This hike and Kayak adventure is best done on a tour to make sure you don’t get lost in the dense Kauai rainforest!
When you have finished your amazing kayak and hike adventure, you may also want to check out Wailua Falls located north of Lihue at the south end of the Wailua River. Wailua Falls is a magnificent sight – two cascading waterfalls tumbling 80ft into the pool bellow. Wailua Falls is easily accessible and can be seen from the roadside – to get there head north from Lihue and follow Maalo Road in Hanamaulu (travel uphill for about 3 miles). This is the perfect way to end your Wailua River Kayak adventure and is also a great way for those unable to hike/kayak to Sacred Falls to see and experience a wonderful Kauai waterfall on their 2024/2025 Hawaii holiday.
