Sample Itinerary of Sri Lanka: Culture, Wildlife & Beach

Day 1: Depart London to Colombo

Depart London Heathrow in the afternoon to fly to Colombo

Day2: Negombo Beach

Met on arrival at Colombo Airport and transferred to Negombo beach to unwind

Day 3: Negombo then onto Habarana

Morning, visit the Pinnawala Elephant Orhanage. Established in 1975 with seven orphaned elephants, the orphanage has now become a successful captive breeding centre.

Afternoon visit the Dambulla Cave Temple with statues and paintings that chronicle Lord Buddha and his life.

Day 4: visit Sigirya & Polonnaruwa

Morning visit Sigirya, the 5th century rock citadel, a UNESCO listed World Heritage Site.

Afternoon proceed to Polonnaruwa & visit the ruins of the Royal Palace followed by a visit to Gal Viharay, which has 3 splendid statues of the Buddha in 'Upright', 'Sedentary' and 'Recumbent' postures carved out of rock, the Audience Hall, the Lotus Bath, the statue of King Parakramabahu, the former Temple of Tooth Relic, Shivan Temple, Lankathilake, Watadage, Galpotha, and Kiri Viharaya.

Day 5: Habarana to Kandy

Morning proceed to Kandy to visit the temple of the sacred tooth relic, the Kandy lake, the bazaar, the arts & crafts centre and a gem museum

Day 6: Kandy visit Tea Plantation onto Nuwera Eliya

Morning proceed to Nuwera Eliya, the beautiful hill city famous for its tea plantation and tea exports. En route, visit a tea plantation and a tea factory, observe how the quality of tea is graded, have a walk-through of the manufacturing process and enjoy a cup of pure Ceylon tea in the factory.

Days 7: Nuwera Eliya visit Yala National Park onto Tissamaharama

Morning proceed to Yala National Park, Srilankas largest wildlife park famous for its elephants, wild boars, wild buffaloes, leopards, bears, deer and crocodiles. Large flocks of migratory and indigenous birds are also found here.

Afternoon, proceed on a Jeep game drive in the park

Day 8: Tissamaharama onto either Hikkaduwa or Ahungalla

Transfer from Tissamaharama to your beach resort.

Days 9-12: At leisure

Enjoy 3 Nights at your chosen beach resort to unwind and relax

Day 13: Back home

Transfer to Colombo Airport to fly back to London Heathrow.
