Day 1-2: Depart London to Colombo
Depart London Heathrow in the afternoon to fly to Colombo. Met on arrival at Colombo Airport and transferred to Negombo beach to unwind
Day 3: Negombo then onto Anuradhapura
Morning to proceed to Anuradhapura one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world and one of the eight World Heritage Sites of Sri Lanka. Visit the Sacred Bo tree, the oldest historically documented tree in the world. The famous dagoba in Sri Lanka, Ruwanweliseya (2nd century BC) and The Brazen Palace too are found in Anuradhapura. Other major attractions include the Samadhi Buddha statue and the Isurumuniya Rock Temple (3rd Century BC), which is famous for its rock carvings.
Day 4: Anuradhapura visit Polonnaruwa onto Habarana
Morning proceed to Polonnaruwa & visit the ruins of the Royal Palace followed by a visit to Gal Viharay, which has 3 splendid statues of the Buddha in 'Upright', 'Sedentary' and 'Recumbent' postures carved out of rock, the Audience Hall, the Lotus Bath, the statue of King Parakramabahu, the former Temple of Tooth Relic, Shivan Temple, Lankathilake, Watadage, Galpotha, and Kiri Viharaya.
Evening, transferred to Habarana
Day 5: Visit Sigiriya & Minneriya
Morning visit Sigirya, the 5th century rock citadel, a UNESCO listed World Heritage Site.
Afternoon visit Minneriya National Park famous for its viewings of elephant herds. In October, you will witness the famous gathering of the wild elephants which is the largest known meeting place of wild elephants in the world
Day 6: Visit Hiriwadunna & Dambulla
Morning visit the small hamlet of Hiriwadunna with its lake, paddy fields. Enjoy the warm hospitality of the village, walk on the bank of the lake, do a short fishing boat safari in the lake, walk through the paddy fields and the cultivations, embark on a bullock cart ride, the most common mode of transportation of this village and enjoy a typical Srilankan Village lunch
Afternoon visit the Dambulla Cave Temple with statues and paintings that chronicle Lord Buddha and his life
Day 7: Habarana visit Matale onto Kandy
Morning, visit the spice gardens of Matale & learn to prepare a traditional curry using local spices at the cookery demonstration
Afternoon proceed to Kandy famous for the temple of the sacred tooth relic, the Kandy lake, the bazaar, the arts & crafts centre and the gem museum
Day 8: Kandy visit Tea Plantation onto Nuwara Eliya
Morning proceed to Nuwara Eliya, the beautiful hill city famous for its tea plantation and tea exports. En route, visit a tea plantation and a tea factory, observe how the quality of tea is graded, have a walk-through of the manufacturing process and enjoy a cup of pure Ceylon tea in the factory
Day 9: Visit Horton Plains
Morning visit Horton Plains, located at an altitude of 2,100 to 2,300 metres. Witness the amazing view at Worlds End, a sheer drop of over 2,800 feet & the beautiful Bakers falls
Day 10: Nuwara Eliya visit Yala National Park onto Tissamaharama
Morning proceed to Yala National Park, Srilankas largest wildlife park famous for its elephants, wild boars, wild buffaloes, leopards, bears, deer and crocodiles. Large flocks of migratory and indigenous birds are also found here.
Afternoon, proceed on a Jeep game drive in the park
Day 11: Tissamaharama visit Galle onto either Hikkaduwa or Ahungalla
Visit Galle, the fortified city built by the Portuguese. Galle is famous for its Fort, the Dutch museum, the Dutch church, intricate laces and ebony carvings.
Afternoon, proceed to your beach resort
Days 12-14: At leisure
Enjoy 3 Nights at your chosen beach resort to unwind and relax
Day 15: Back home
Transfer to Colombo Airport to fly back to London Heathrow.
