Tel Aviv is a major coastal city in Israel, located along the Mediterranean Sea. It serves as the country’s economic and cultural center and is known for its beaches, architecture, and diverse urban life. The city has approximately 14 kilometers of Mediterranean coastline, with public beaches, walking and cycling paths, and seafront cafés and restaurants.

One of Tel Aviv’s oldest neighborhoods is Neve Tzedek, established in 1887. Today it is characterized by restored historic buildings, small boutiques, galleries, and cafés.

The city center contains the White City, a collection of over 4,000 buildings constructed primarily in the 1930s in the International (Bauhaus) style. Many of these structures were designed by Jewish architects who emigrated from Europe. The area has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Adjacent to Tel Aviv is Jaffa, one of the world’s oldest port cities. The Old City of Jaffa features narrow streets, art galleries, religious landmarks, restaurants, and the Jaffa Port. The nearby Jaffa Flea Market (Shuk HaPishpeshim) is known for antiques, textiles, and food stalls.

Tel Aviv has a diverse culinary scene reflecting influences from across the Mediterranean and Middle East. The city is home to numerous markets, including Carmel Market, where vendors sell produce, baked goods, spices, and street food.

Well-known restaurants include Abu Hassan in Jaffa, recognized for hummus; Manta Ray, located along the beachfront; and Orna & Ella, formerly known for its modern Israeli cuisine.

Tel Aviv is approximately one hour by car from Jerusalem and about 90 minutes from the Dead Sea, depending on traffic and security conditions.
