One particularly great day trip from San Francisco is Muir Woods - a forest of California native Redwood Trees that are some of the tallest and oldest trees in California. Muir Woods National Monument is also home to more than 380 different plants and animals, including 27 species of mammals, 50 species of birds, 12 species of reptiles, and 5 species of amphibians so be on the lookout whilst visiting Muir Woods for some of these spectacular animals. From San Francisco Muir Woods is around a half an hour to 45-minute drive, so it is perfect for a day trip from the city. There is very little signal and Internet service at the Muir Woods National Monument which allows you to unplug from the rest of the world and really connect with nature whilst in this stunning Redwood Forest.
