Birmingham, Alabama
Birmingham, Alabama is a car enthusiasts dream as it is home to the Barber Motorsports Park. Not only is the The IndyCar Series Grand Prix of Alabama held here but it is home to the Barber Vintage Motorsport Museum with over 1450 vintage and modern racing cars and motorcycles. Like many of its other Deep South neighbours, Alabama is also home to its own historic theatre - The Alabama Theatre, open since 1927. If something is on that takes your fancy whilst in Alabama then be sure to catch a show, if not it is worth walking and having a look at just from the outside. Montgomery, Alabama
Montgomery is known for its many museums that will make your Alabama 2024/ 2025 holiday extra memorable: from The Rosa Parks Museum to a 3-block reconstruction of Old Alabama Town where you will get a glimpse into life in Alabama in the 19th Century. Gulf Shores is also home to a great seafood market selling fresh fish and ‘to-go’ fresh seafood! Whilst in Gulf Shores, be sure to visit The Wharf – with its amazing restaurants and bars, delightful local shops, and an exciting Ferris wheel that overlooks the city, the Wharf is a great place to spend the day or afternoon. If you want to see some of the Alabama natives, mainly the alligators, then why not visit Alligator Alley – a sanctuary for rescued alligators just outside of Gulf Shores.
Finally Gulf Shores is best known for its sightseeing dolphin trips - to have the opportunity to see these dolphins in the wild you will need to book either a private tour or a shared tour where you will be able to cruise the waters of the Gulf and look for the amazing dolphins that live there.
Why Not Twin Centre?
The state of Alabama is very close to the state of Florida, particularly if you are planning on visiting Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. Orange Beach and Gulf Shores in Alabama are only a 20-minute drive from the Florida border and some of most picturesque beaches in Florida. You could continue your Alabama holiday into Florida and make your trip a Twin Centre holiday in 2024/ 2025; you could drive down the Gulf Coast all the way to Tampa and Clearwater or in land slightly to Orlando and see Walt Disney World and Universal Studios.
