New York is a place of contrast. The bustle of Wall Street and peace of the Botanical Gardens. Lavish restaurants and corner delis. Taxis and Limo’s. Come and explore the natural beauty of Niagara Falls and the man-made beauty the Statue of Liberty and The Empire State Building.
Have lunch at Don Antonio’s for a casual setting and great pizza. Pizza Vesuvio is a true pizza pie loaded with cheese and ham. Beer, pasta and crowds make this a true New York restaurant. 2nd Avenue Deli has huge hot pastrami sandwiches on rye and matzo soup with cabbage salad and pickles. Be prepared to wait as this is one of the most popular delis in New York City.
Dinner in New York is not just food- it’s an experience. Eleven Madison Park has beautiful plates of veal, butter-poached lobster and decadent dessert served at candle-lit tables with elegant table clothes and luxurious ambiance. This spot is perfect for a romantic night.
Take a walking tour of New York to see Time’s Square, Rockefeller Center and Manhattan. Ferry out to Ellis Island or cruise pass the Statue of Liberty. Hustle down Wall Street or do some serious shopping at Tiffany’s. Buy a Rolex or just dream. Window shop. Relax and stroll through Central Park.
If you want to leave the city scene, visit Niagara Falls. The falls are lit at night, gorgeous in the day, and one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Hear the deafening roar as the water crashes down the falls. Feel the damp mist. Take a ride on the Maid of the Mist for a heart-stopping ride near the crashing waters. The pinks and blues and the mystical mist rising up add to the magic of the falls at night. Try to get a room high up in the hotels for amazing views.
Next stop Boston holidays! Enjoy the history of the North End as you see Paul Revere’s House. Smell tantalizing aromas drifting from the bakeries and café’s. Shops have windows open to the sidewalk. Stop and have a cannoli and some expresso. People-watching is prime in this location. Don’t forget a visit to the Tea Party Museum where history is relived and kids enjoy dumping tea into the harbor.
The New England Holocaust Monument brings to life the suffering and horrors of the Jews. Images, hot mists, survivor testimonials and more allow visitors to better understand this dark blot on history. The Boston Ballet, in sharp contrast, shows opulence in the architecture, the riches of the décor and spectacular costumes. Graceful dancers float on the stage during performances such as ‘The Nutcracker’.
Visitors from ‘across the pond’ do not want to miss a visit to The Old State House. This beautiful old building has many relics from the Revolutionary War. See the Lion and the Unicorns, symbolic of British Royalty. On March 5, 1770 outside of The Old State House, the Boston Massacre took place. Full of history and unique perspectives from both sides, this is an educational and wonderful place to experience history.
Boston is stunning from the air. The Skywalk Observatory allows guests to see Boston from 50 floors in the air. View Cambridge University and Fenway Park. Free audio guides allow you to understand what you are seeing and the history behind it.
So many other attractions like The Boston Park, Fenway Park and The Freedom Trail will make it hard to decide what to see and what to save for another trip. Come and visit New York and Boston for a twin centre vacation that will be very hard to top.
