Route 66 holidays can end at Santa Monica Pier, home to Pacific Park with restaurants and amusement park rides including the Pacific Wheel. Depending on where you start your Route 66 road trip you will either end or begin your journey in Santa Monica; whichever you choose, be sure to visit Santa Monica Pier and snap a picture with the infamous “Route 66 Trial Ends Here” sign. While staying in Santa Monica you could also visit Los Angeles, Malibu, Rodeo Drive, Hollywood and even continue your road trip holiday along the Pacific Coast Highway to San Francisco – what a truly epic USA Road Trip that would be.
If you are doing an extended Route 66 road trip then we would recommend ending in Santa Monica as, in our opinion, California and Arizona hold the most interesting aspects of Route 66. However, if you were doing a Mini Route 66 road trip through California, Nevada, and into Arizona then beginning in Santa Monica at the end of Route 66 is a great choice too.
