Days 1-2
Your holiday starts with a flight from the United Kingdom with one of our partner airlines, British Airways, United or Virgin Atlantic. After arriving in Washington Dulles International, pick up your hire car and head towards your hotel, the Marriott Courtyard on Embassy Row, situated in the heart of Washington in walking distance of the major attractions. The hotel offers a high level of service, with modern large guest rooms, heated indoor pool and a highly regarded French Bistro restaurant. From here you can explore the huge range of museums, monuments and the great bars and restaurants that give Washington its dynamic cosmopolitan feel.
Day 3
Travelling south to Williamsburg, you will arrive in the former capital of Virginia and a key site in the British colonial administration of the territory. Your hotel the Marriott Residence has large spacious guest rooms with separate cooking and dining facilities and is close to the historic Williamsburg district, restored to its 18th century style it is a snapshot of life in the founding years of the United States.
Day 4
On your way towards the Shenandoah Valley, stop off in Jamestown the site of the very first British settlement in the New World. From here drive west through the Virginian countryside to the beautiful valley bordered on the east by the Blue Mountains and the Appalachian mountain range to the west. The Skyline Drive running through the valley will lead you to your hotel, the Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites in Front Royal, a small town that is typical of the communities in this beautiful natural area. The hotel is set beautiful surroundings of the award winning Blue Ridge Shadows Golf Course, with modern well-appointed rooms offering great views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, with an onsite restaurant.
Day 5
The small Pennsylvanian town of Gettysburg is part of the important history of the United States being home to one of the fiercest battles in the American Civil War. What better place to stay than the Best Western Plus, which predates the Civil War. Nonetheless it is complete with large spacious rooms and is perfectly placed to explore the historic and contemporary attractions of the local area.
Day 6-7
Having started in the current capital city, your adventure holiday in America is complete in the former capital Philadelphia. As the site of the signing of the declaration of independence it has a history stretching back hundreds of years. At the Radisson Park Warwick Hotel enjoy a luxurious end to your holiday, in the heart of the city it is an ideal spot for exploring the history and the contemporary attractions of the city. Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell speak of the triumph of the American people over the British, while the Inner Harbour is complete with bars, restaurants and attractions.
At the end of this USA self-drive holiday you will drop off your vehicle and head to Philadelphia International airport to catch your return flight home.
