Frequently Asked Questions — India and Sri Lanka Holiday

How long do you need for an India and Sri Lanka holiday?

A 14 to 16-day trip is the ideal length for combining India and Sri Lanka. This itinerary is 15 days, giving you six days to cover the Golden Triangle highlights in India and eight days to explore Sri Lanka's Cultural Triangle, hill country and wildlife. It is possible to do both countries in less time, but we recommend at least two weeks to avoid feeling rushed.

What is the best time to visit India and Sri Lanka together?

October to March is the best time to travel to both India and Sri Lanka from the UK. During these months both countries experience dry, warm weather. April to September brings the monsoon to parts of Sri Lanka and increasing heat to northern India, which can make sightseeing less comfortable.

Can I do India and Sri Lanka in two weeks?

Yes - this 15-day itinerary is designed around a two-week holiday from the UK. The routing is efficient, with a direct internal flight between India and Sri Lanka, so you spend your time exploring rather than travelling. Everything, including all flights, transfers, hotels and activities, is arranged for you.

Do I need separate visas for India and Sri Lanka?

Yes. UK citizens require an e-Visa for India, which can be applied for online before travel. For Sri Lanka, UK passport holders need an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA), also applied for online. Both are straightforward processes and our team will guide you through the requirements when you book.

What is included in Charter Travel's India and Sri Lanka holiday package?

This holiday includes all international and internal flights, accommodation at all hotels listed in the itinerary, breakfast at select hotels, a private air-conditioned car with a dedicated driver and guide throughout Sri Lanka, all entrance fees for tours and activities, and one jeep safari at Yala National Park. The price starts from £2,320 per person based on two adults sharing.

Which UK airports do you depart from for India and Sri Lanka?

We can arrange departures from all major UK airports including London Heathrow, London Gatwick, Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh and Glasgow. Departure airport can affect pricing and routing, so please mention your preferred airport when you enquire.

Is this India and Sri Lanka itinerary suitable for first-time visitors?

Yes, this is an excellent itinerary for first-time visitors to both countries. The pacing gives you time to adjust on arrival in Delhi before moving through the Golden Triangle, and the private car and guide in Sri Lanka means you always have expert local knowledge on hand. Our team is also available throughout your trip should you need any support.

Can the India and Sri Lanka itinerary be tailor-made?

Absolutely. Every Charter Travel holiday is individually designed, and this itinerary is a starting point rather than a fixed package. We can adjust hotels, extend or shorten stays, add extra destinations, include a beach finish in Sri Lanka, or combine the trip with additional nights in the Maldives or Goa. Speak to one of our specialists to start building your version of this holiday.
